Pathway to Student Success
The strong, comprehensive educational program at Milton Hershey SchoolŪ emphasized applied and hands-on learning within a supportive, secure, and healthy home life surrounding. The MHS curriculum prepares students for success after graduation. Activities are designed to engage children in discovering potential careers they will find enjoyable, challenging, and stimulating. This educational approach will help MHS students gain the knowledge, practical and personal skills, and competencies needed for continued study, career success, and ultimately, a fulfilling life.
From Pre-K through grade 12, MHS students must meet educational standards as proof of their job-readiness skills and achievements. In high school, they can earn national or state occupational certification in specific occupational areas. They visit technical schools and colleges to learn more about the postsecondary training and education required for certain jobs. They complete internships, apprenticeships, and cooperative work experiences to gain experience in the marketplace. As a result, MHS students graduate with the entry-level skills, certifications, and work experience that employers seek. MHS also provides assistance to students who elect to pursue a career in one of the U.S. Armed Forces.
Career/technical education has been a strength of the Milton Hershey School program since the School's beginning in 1909. Career/technical education focuses on the connection between learning and earning, preparing each student for both postsecondary education and the workforce. The program has earned the accreditation reserved for only the best technical education programs in the state and in the nation.
